THE VISION
“Grandma’s House” is an innovative, “Back-to-Basics” approach that will provide positive developmental programs and services for the youth of Davenport’s central city community. The name is inspired by the memories that most children and adults have when they think of going to their grandparent’s house. At grandma’s house, one can usually find a nurturing environment filled with warmth, safety, discipline and love. In many instances, grandparents are parenting their grandchildren. The intent of “Grandma’s House” is to capture the positive spirit of previous generations and create an environment that would transmit those morals and values to the present generation. We feel it is imperative that we create a facility that would accommodate the specific needs, programs and services for the youth in our community. It is our belief that every person from the cradle to the grave without regard to race, age, gender, background or nationality has the right to learn and develop under sound teaching, care and discipline.
“Grandma’s House” will assist youth and their families with programs and services that will develop learning and social skills, promote community involvement and heighten cultural awareness. “Grandma’s House” will network with other community-based agencies by sharing in the responsibility of developing our youth of today. We believe that it does take a community to raise a child. Please join us in this very special project.
